Bersih Sarawak 13.8 failed

As has been predicted by The Four Horsemen, and thanks largely to riots in England which have shed bad light on street demonstrations only few days before Sarawak would hold its own street demonstration, the Bersih 2.0-induced street rally of the MoCS (Movement for Change Sarawak) has been called off in the final hours. Long live Taib Mahmud and his dynasty. And the Sarawak Ibans, once again, are speechless.

WHERE SARAWAK HAS FAILED
Wrong revolution wrong place wrong man
By The Four Horsemen

Our earlier take on the Sarawak Red Rally
Our caution on Bersih's brand's worst case scenario

Where Sarawak has failed:

1. Riots in England
2. Fasting month
3. Sarawak Police's wisdom
4. Francis Siah's flip flop
5. Taib Mahmud's gang
6. DAP and Baru Bian
7. Ibans and Chinese
8. Radio Free Sarawak no show
9. Bersih 2.0's apolitical lies on July 9
10. Sarawak missed the Bersih bus

It's a case of bad timing all in all. Sarawak's Walk for Democracy should have taken place the same time Bersih 2.0 took to the streets in Kuala Lumpur on July 9. Remember the saying, once beaten twice shy. After much has been said about Bersih 2.0 in Kuala Lumpur -- the pros and cons, the good and the ugly, the fake death, the political agendas and all --, coupled with recent riots in England being street demonstration's worst-case scenario in any country, there is no way the peace-loving law-abiding God-fearing citizens of Malaysia would risk another street rally. Not that they would shun street rally out of fear; it's more of their sense of responsibility.

We have time for political headhunting, we have time for business, we have time for making babies. One thing at a time. Our time for Sarawak political change was on April 16. WAS. Now get on with it. Move on! You want to take another shot at Chief Minister Taib Mahmud? Wait on another five years.

We hate you okay as much as you hate Sarawak political imbalance. But it was you -- the Sarawak Majority -- who put Taib Mahmud on the Sarawak throne and keep him there for over 30 years. So get on with it! Roll with the punches! You've made the choice for us. You called down the thunder now reap the whirlwind.

You don't go to polling station EVERYDAY, silly!

Court Order against revolution flag bearers

(In the news)

KUCHING: The police have obtained a court order against nine persons to stop an illegal rally planned to be held by the Movement for Change Sarawak (MoCS) today. According to Kuching district police chief ACP Mun Kock Keong, the court order prohibited them from being in the vicinity of the Kuching Museum Garden today and from organising any illegal assemblies. “We (police) have applied for a court order which states that the organisers and others involved are not allowed to hold any assembly according to facts we had presented to the court,” said ACP Mun. He said one of the court order’s respondents was MoCS leader Francis Siah. Siah said on MoCS’s website that he had received the court order at his house on Friday afternoon; while Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How, whom Siah named as MoCS legal adviser, received his on Thursday. Others in the court order were Awang Abdillah Awang Nasar, Alphonsus Kuek, See Chee How, Datuk Salleh Jafaruddin, Datuk Bujang Ulis, Datuk Mohd Salleh Shaik Ahmed, Mark Chin and Dr Mahsor Hossen.

Sarawak Red Rally cancelled!

(In the news)

KUCHING: The “Walk for Democracy and Reform”, also dubbed the “Red Rally”, scheduled for 2pm here today is off. Announcing the decision here last night, Movement for Change, Sarawak (MoCS) leader Francis Paul Siah said the movement had placed public safety as its top priority. “As the organisers, MoCS is responsible for the participants. We do not want to see anyone getting hurt in the streets. Neither do we want to see anyone being arrested for participating in the rally,” he said. Siah stressed: “As a responsible organization, MoCS will not break the law and we have decided that in the overall interests of our fellow citizens in Kuching, the Red Rally is called off. MoCS also concedes that, as a small organisation, we will be hardpressed if things get out of control. We also humbly concede that we do not have the manpower and resources to control a big crowd. With the rally off, Siah said the movement’s 10-point Declaration which was to be unveiled today would now be announced on Sept 16 Malaysia Day.

Why cancel?                                                                   http://mocsarawak.wordpress.com/2011/08/13/why-i-call-off-the-rally/

FRANCIS SIAH: So this is how it ended – an anti-climax. I am also very disappointed with my decision. But I have to make one for MoCS. Only God knows why I finally decided to call it off. The past month has been a confrontation with the police when it should have been the ‘termite’. It’s not worth it in this case. The real ‘enemy’ is not the police.

I have thought this over and over again. Personally, I have no experience in organising a public rally of this scale. Anyone gets hurt, injured or maimed, I am responsible. Anyone get arrested, I will be responsible.

I feel responsible for my fellows and friends. The eight who were served the Restraining Order (RO) are all my good friends. I have to be honest and say that if any of the eight were to be arrested because of the rally, I have no personal resources to help in any way.

I do not reside in Kuching. It would be totally irresponsible of me to just come back to my home town, organise a rally, get friends and supporters into trouble and then leave them in the lurch. That will be the last thing I will do. So far, no one here or elsewhere has told me that they would assist should anything happen to the eight served with the RO. Here again, the burden is on me.

Those who slammed me for calling off the rally will never understand what my friends in MoCS and I have to go through. It’s so easy to instigate and provoke. But where were these people when we needed them. None offered MoCS anything other than mere words.

In their comfort zone, they have started lambasting me in web portals and blogs. This was  expected. I won’t pretend by saying that I’m not hurt by those insults.

I’m glad I’m not a politician running for public office. I do not need public support to attain a political goal. Why bother whether they want to support me or not?

It is now 2.15am on Aug 13. Today is the first anniversary of MoCS. I recall this day one year ago when I sat down together with See Chee How and Jasmine at a press conference at Kuching Airport to announce the establishment of MoCS. Little did I realize how difficult and turbulent the journey would be. I have no experience too in heading an NGO. But it was one hell of a ride, and unfortunately, an expensive one too.

I also recall that I would set a one-year time frame, perhaps a too ambitious one, to lead the MoCS campaign to oust the ‘termite’ within 12 months. The deadline is up today and I’ve failed to get rid of that old insect. But I’ve kept my word and today, I’ve completed my ‘term’. Now it’s time to pass the baton.

IBAN 1: Francis, I am sorry to hear that you have to call off the rally but as a blogger, I want to say do not give up on your hopes and prayers for change for your Sarawak. At the same time, I am so sorry to read that you had been called a coward. However, to know that the whole red Rally has grown bigger than you expected shows that you and your fellow allies are not alone wanting change for Sarawak. You may have done your best but remember that there are other people out there who know what is happening in Sarawak

IBAN 2: Francis, I have tried to explain and promote your cause on whistle blower website, SarawakReport.org, several times. Now, SR fellow readers are condemning me of misleaded them to such an artificial belief and many-many more. I wish, you could write a nice explaination of what is really happening on 13 Aug, in SR, especially those hopefuls, that you have made being very disappointed and angry.

SARA: I am disappointed to say the least.

BOND: There's always a thing called contingency plan, Francis. Apparently you don't have any.

DEVIL: Did you actually think that it's gonna be sunny day for you all along? Man, you crumbled at the first huddle. And your excuses... I must say they're not the kind of excuses that is satisfactory to laymen or professionals, not to mention seasoned politicians. Those excuses are more like for self interest, self restraint, all in the family how small is that.

You dangled a tasty ideal in the open. People took the bait, they followed you. But once an ideal has gained momentum, moved to this level, shifted to a higher gear, it's no longer about you, man, it's about the ideal. It has become a public property so to speak. You don't cut off that ideal only for your sake or for the sake of your friends. Because it's not about you guys anymore. People didn't march in Kuala Lumpur for Ambiga or Anwar. They did it for themselves, for what they believed.

But I thought you knew from the start you're up against the Chief Minister of Sarawak himself, somebody who's so powerful that even the UMNO big lords in Putrajaya would not stand up against him. And you had one year to plan for this. As Bond has said, where's your contingency plan? Man, you don't even have Plan B or Plan C, do you? One year, man, one year... and all you could think of when you called off the rally is this? That's hardly an escape route! That's going out like a mouse... and so is everybody behind you running to safety like mice losing their tails.

Dude, when you know you're fighting Sarawak Government and Taib Mahmud you're a dead man anyway. So forget about your own safety or chances for better livelihood. Push it to the breaking point. You may die trying, but die a martyr. At least that's a better way for people to remember you by. Not like this! Now you're the joke of the county, the laughing stock.

Sekarang ni seluruh masyarakat dunia benci apa jua bentuk perarakan jalanraya.

Sekarang awak dah batalkan projek jalan-jalan. Awak kena ada rasa bertanggungjawab pada mereka. Malangnya, Francis, penjelasan awak tak cukup adil buat mereka. Bila nanti anak bini mereka bertanya, "Eh awak tak pergi Sarawak Red Rally ke?" Apa jawab mereka?

As for the rest of the Sarawakians,
they're now green with envy.
And their only reaction is this:

He's indeed a flip-flop. He should have thought about the consequences should they carried on with the Red Rally. Uh, excuse me? Red Rally? Is it 'Better Red than Dead' sort of propaganda? Communism? hahahha. But lucky enough; they called it off. Nice writing, Pakcik and Borneo Four Avengers.
