When was Malaysia formed?

Sept 16 Part V

If we go by the professor's logic then our Independence Day was merely a circus show orchestrated by UMNO leaders so as to make evident their so-called heroic importance in making country Malaysia. The professor is saying the struggle for independence was never there to begin with, not needed, as Malaysia was already a sovereign state from the start.

INDEPENDENCE FOR SARAWAK
SEPTEMBER 16 PART V
Malaysia history or UMNO history?
http://knightadventure.blogspot.com/2011/09/sept-16-part-v.html
By The Four Horsemen

The Four Horsemen congregate in Dewan Selamba to commemorate a special occasion -- BLACK-16. Black-16 is to mean 48-year tragedy in Sarawak and Sabah's lost independence on September 16, 1963. Speaker Pehin Sri Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Amar Haji Julaihi Haji Suut, Penan Ambassador to Putrajaya Lady Sarah J. Brooke, Cyber Spy Sir James anak Bond and Reverend Devil's Advocate take their seats. The assembly is now in session.

SARA: Sarawak Teachers’ Union president William Ghani Bina said today that any revision of the school’s history textbook must be to correct the one-sided history on the formation of Malaysia. One-sided in the sense that it is only about Tanah Melayu, but Sarawak and Sabah are omitted and how Malaysia came into being was not properly explained. Similar to Pakcik Julaihi's call in blog article "Aprilfool Malaya", Ghani also insisted that without Sabah and Sarawak and also Singapore, Malaysia would never have existed. Sarawak, Sabah and Singapore helped to form Malaysia at that time, not just the Malay states as suggested in the history syllabus. Singapore pulled out in 1965...

.
BOND: Correction, Sara. Singapore was red-carded and kicked out of Malaysia game actually, following many fouls on the side of Singapore half involving the Singapore Malays, if you guys would remember Maria Hertogh's case, street riots on Prophet's Birthday and racial riots in 1964.

But it was Singapore Lew Kuan Yew's attempt to influence referee's decision in Malaysia Parliament that contributed to the immediate expulsion of Singapore FC on 9th August 1965. The Singapore's captain reminded the UMNO players in Dewan Rakyat that Malaysia league is for all Malaysians -- "Malaysian Malaysia" -- not just the Malays who were the majority etnic in Malaya states but in Singapore the majority is the Chinese. When referee Tunku Abdul Rahman refused to listen to Lee Kuan Yew, the latter had showed him a middle finger.

Ladies and gentlemen, bear in mind the fact that, based on a census in late 50s, Chinese total population in Malaya and Singapore combined would have easily outnumbered the Malays total population in Malaya and Singapore combined. If Singapore and Malaya had formed a team, a Chinese would have become the skipper. Then come SabahSarawak to upset the Chinese abacus. The Malaya Malays owed SabahSarawak a big favour in this regard -- very, very big favour which they haven't repaid --, because when Malaysia was formed in 1963, merging Malaya, Singapore, Sabah and Sarawak... SabahSarawak's population had revived Malay as the majority race once again.

After Singapore FC was dismissed from Malaysia premier league in 1965, a new rule was introduced -- Bumiputera --, so as to retain Malays advantages. When the Malaysian Chinese conceded a penalty to the Malays on 13th May 1969, the UMNO Malays chose to play a different game -- Ketuanan Melayu! They had no further use of referee Tunku Abdul Rahman. They forced him to surrender his whistle. The rest is history.

DEVIL: I like your football analogy, Bond, I wouldn't have slept in classroom during schooling years if only my history teacher had taught the history subject like you tell history here. So, when Malaya knew they could not play with Singapore because the Singapore Chinese proved to be too skillful for the UMNO Malays to outwit, they told the Singaporeans "Here's your water, here's your trishaws, here's your stadium you go play there don't play with us, not fair you're premier one players we're only minnows, we must play with SabahSarawak since they're too slow to catch a ball."

(Laughter)

BOND: Precisely my sentiment, Devil. The Malaya Malays also said, "Sarawak is easy game, the Ibans are drunken lot they love to quarel among themselves they forgot to defend the goal mouth. Keep them fighting, longhouse versus longhouse, PBDS versue SNAP, Daniel Tajem versus James Masing. Whenever they stop fighting give them RM5 so they can go buy cheap liquor in Batang Ai so they want to fight among themselves again and forget about the RM500 millions we promised them last year. The Sarawak Chinese and the KayanKenyah don't like Malaya from the beginning but their number is too small to can overturn the Iban's decision. Imagine what RM5 can do!"

(Laughter)

BOND: Then one Malaya said to another Malaya, "But Sabah can be quite a challenge. Tun Fuad Stephens wants to take Sabah out of Malaysia. He also refused to sign the 5 per cent oil royalties. What should we do?"

That's when Malaya wizards said to a Malaya prince, "On 6th of June 1976 you go to Labuan. You must invite Tun Fuad to board a plane together with you. Before the Nomad aircraft would take off you must pull Harris Salleh out of the plane. You and Harris then go visit a farm, whatever farm or a brothel if you fancy a quick fix, for as long as you don't board that Nomad plane."

"Why Nomad aircraft?"

"Because Nomad don't have black box."

Then Malaya prince asked Malaya fortune teller, "Why must I stop a Sabahan Harris Salleh from going into a plane bound for KK, Sabah?"

Malaya said, "Because we will blow up that plane... and because accidental survivor Harris Salleh will become Sabah Chief Minister that very day. Because Harris will sign that 5 per cent oil royalties and on top of that Harris will not raise the issue Sabah to quit Malaysia ever again."

JULAIHI: Kalau dibiarkan dua mamat ni bercerita sampai bila-bila pun tak akan habis cerita mereka. Semakin bertambah pula kedongengan cerita.

Silakan, Sara.

SARA: Merci, Pakcik, you remind me of my father, very decisive, for the better good. But my father is not pro-Melayu like you hehehehehehe.

JULAIHI: Sana silapnya awak. Pakcik bukan pro-Melayu, pakcik pro-Islam. Akibatnya kesahihan sejarah Malaysia jadi tergadai -- Mat Indera jadi anti-Malaysia walhal Malaysia belum wujud pun ketika itu, tarikh kemerdekaan Malaysia pula jadi keliru.

Teruskan, Sara, apa lagi kata presiden Sarawak Teachers' Union?

.
SARA: Ghani noted that the formation of Malaysia had not been put into the right perspective as it did not indicate clearly how Malaysia was formed. Representing the teachers community, he said they agree on the history syllabus to be revised, and this must include how the country was formed in 1963. They're of the opinion that it is important that the new history textbook highlight the correct version of the formation of Malaysia. That was the Sarawak teachers' response to a statement made by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin that the history syllabus for schools was to be revised following a disclosure of new findings of the nation's past.

Ghani said the country’s history cannot be one-sided and that there is a need to explain Malaysia Day which falls on Sept 16. It is on this day that the Federation of Malaysia was officially formed by Malaya, Sarawak, Sabah and Singapore. He noted that they formed the federation as equal partners. Given that description, Sarawak and Sabah did not join as states, but as equal partners to Malaya and Singapore.

Lo, even former prime minister of Malaysia Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said history needs to be clearly explained but must not be influenced by current politics. Current text books are inaccurate, he said, as they had not given a clear background on the fight for the nation's independence. History cannot be reviewed as we cannot change what had happened. It is better to tell the truth about the nation's past.

As the results of Malaysia history not being truthful the young Malaysians assumed the fight for independence was just another common fight that also took place in other countries. It was not. Malaysia road to independence was rather complicated and sophisticated, as well as through a delicate process. Malaysia pulled through, credit to Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al Haj.

Mahathir said not much is mentioned on the roles played by Tunku Abdul Rahman. And, because of this, the younger generation do not understand the country's history and origin. That's what he finally admitted. The irony in that statement is Mahathir himself, during his tenure in office, had the opportunity to correct the history accounts being selective... yet he did not do it. He had all the power and resources, and all the times that he can even built Putrajaya, KLCC, KLIA, Sepang circuit, Penang Bridge, Proton; also cancelled out Sultans' legal immunity. With a snap of his fingers he can restore the correct accounts in Malaysia history. Why didn't he do it then is anybody's guess.

Melayu is a 'religion'
http://knightadventure.blogspot.com/2011/09/sept-16-part-v.html

DEVIL: Blame the UMNO Malays they must have threatened him with a keris on his throat telling him he can do anything within his power as prime minister but don't ever, ever write off Melayu lies in Malaysia history books.

BOND: I'm afraid I have to say your assertion is superfluous, Devil. The undefeated Mahathir Mohamad as we know him would not give in to threats. Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah together with his Semangat 46 hordes tried that but drew futile. PAS Malays pressured him, Mahathir pressured them back. Anwar Ibrahim tried to kick him out of office, Mahathir kicked Anwar into prison. The Malay sultans? LOL, Mahathir got them under his thumb. Each time Mahathir the Magnificent did something no one can question him. His critics can only wait for his big plans to fail before they can hurl all abuses at him. But Mahathir's big plans never failed. He even pegged the Malaysian Ringgit. Yes, Mahathir as a prime minister can do anything.

Sarah's question is justified -- Why Mahathir didn't do history?

DEVIL: Because, there's a common understanding among certain people that you can insult Allah but don't insult Prophet Mohamad. Now, put Melayu and religion in a similar frame. You can insult a muslim in Malaysia but don't you ever insult a Melayu. No one must question this Melayu religion, including Mahathir Mohamad cannot undermine Melayu regardless how powerful he is. Mahathir knew this. It will only mean a political suicide for him to insult Melayu.

BOND: But Mahathir has written many books condemning the Malays, has he not?

.
DEVIL: You still don't get it, do you? I said Melayu not Malays. Malay is name of a race. Melayu is a religion, especially so since institution 'Melayu' in Malaysia is revered, is deifed, is worshipped, so much so that Melayu is equivalent to religion. If that's not the case why then everything in this country must have everything to do with Melayu?

Even the formation of Malaysia in 1963 must uphold Melayu's interests first and foremost before such idea can materialise.  As you have pointed out, Bond, prior to that on two separate occasions Chinese Singapore had proposed a merger with Melayu Malaya but each time Malaya had rejected the proposal. Sarawak and Sabah came into picture. Then only Malaya agreed to form a country with Singapore.

Why would Malaya want to trouble herself with the burdens of forming a country with two territories that were still lacking many aspects of development? Nevermind the poor economy, Sarawak and Sabah have the numbers. Their number can save Melayu number from being overrun by Chinese number. Without these numbers being taken into consideration Malaysia would not have been created. Malaysia was formed not on the basis of sharing a common struggle after the last of British fleet left the South China Sea. Malaysia was formed to give Melayu a country.

It was all about Melayu all along! 1957, 1963, 1965, 1969, 1974, 1976, 1983, 1987, 1991, 1994, 1997, 2001, 2005, 2007, 2008, 2010... the order of the day is Melayu. The rule of the game is Melayu must come up the sole winners. The rest of the things are mere rhetoric. '1Malaysia' is rhetoric. When Islam cannot already unite all Malays, the UMNO shouts "Hidup Melayu!" Even if it would mean demonising fellow muslims or making false allegations against their fellow muslims.

Islam religion or Melayu religion. In Malaysia it is an easy choice. Islam has certain set of rules and principles the Muslims must adhere to. Muslims are honourable people. When dealing with an enemy a Muslim must abide by these rules. Melayu religion on the other hand has no rules.

In the event Islam rules restrict their freedom to do what they wanted to do against Anwar Ibrahim they will quickly revert to default settings -- Melayu.

Melayu culture and customs, Melayu folklores, Melayu costumes, Melayu superstitions, Melayu lineage, Melayu medicines and witchcrafts, Melayu moral and values, Ketuanan Melayu, you name it, are slowly creeping into Islam's tradition and phases of Islam civilization these days, gradually replacing Islam properties with Melayu attributes, so much so that we cannot already tell which is Melayu which is Islam.

It is only a matter of time before the significance of Melayu will surpass the importance of Islam, if such situation has not taken place already, as evident by similar transformation had happened to Christianity some 1,500 years ago. Melayu will turn Islam into Melayu denomination quite like how the Greeks had turned Christianity into Roman Catholics.

Long before the Roman Empire embraced Christian faith, Christians had no Popes, papal and The Vatican, no bishops and nuns, no armed crusaders; no one was burnt at a stake on allegation of practising sorcery, no inquisitions, no man has to kill other man for God; there were no cross and deity Virgin Mary. Christianity then was much about relationship between man and Heaven, about faith to God, about having remorse, about shunning sins and evils. Their relationship with fellow human is traced in their observing similar traditions with the Old Testament Judaism, for Jesus Christ was from the lineage of King David. Hence, it was understood why the early Christians did not consume pork and that a Christian penis must be circumcised.

After the crucification of Jesus Christ on a cross in Golgotha where he died, began a new chapter in Christianity with the advent of Saint Paul a Roman citizen. Through his hardwork and perseverance more Greeks and gentiles became Christians. The Romans later injected their own influence and rituals into Christian tradition, also introduced their own interpretations of God's Word. At one point in Christian history a Christian pope had assumed the authority of God. He told the Christian army bound for battles in Jerusalem that upon their death they will receive full pardons for their sins in lifetime.

The pork eating and circumcision? After the Greek elements, it was since then that a Christian can eat pork as much as he likes and keep the foreskin for as long as he likes.

BOND: Pakcik, we tip-toe round a sensitive matter here. Better still, strike it off.

SARA: I second that.

Silap-silap nanti akidah pun jadi akidah Melayu. Itu maksud Devil.

SARA: What is akidah and akhlak, pakcik?

(The text is blurred. Readers who wish to read it nevertheless are advised to highlight the blurred area but by doing so you have agreed you will not take offense and we are not responsible for your reaction.)

UMNO and Merdeka lies
http://knightadventure.blogspot.com/2011/09/sept-16-part-v.html

JULAIHI:  Baiklah, kita berbalik kepada perkara asal. Di mana kita tadi, Sara?

SARA: On a statement made by Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin that the history syllabus for schools was to be revised following a disclosure of new findings of the nation's past.

JULAIHI: Selepas 48 tahun negara ini terbentuk mengapa baru sekarang kandungan buku sejarah mahu diperbetulkan? Tak apa, soalan ini lebih pedas: Selepas berpuluh-puluh tahun Malaysia merdeka baru sekarang tahu sejarah kita tak betul?

Tak mengapa, soalan ini lagilah berbisa: Sepanjang kita bersekolah, kemudian berkahwin, kemudian keluarga kita beranak-pinak, kemudian anak-anak kita sempat masuk universiti, sempat jadi graduan, sempat pula lagi mereka buat zuriat sana-sini, barulah sekarang kita tahu buku sejarah kita telah berbohong? Aastaghfirullahalazim!

SARA: Is that a question or a statement, pakcik?

JULAIHI: Statement fedup tahap dewa.

SARA: The current furore over Malaysia’s history first started only recently when Utusan Malaysia alleged that PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu had said on August 27 that the communists who attacked the Bukit Kepong police station during the pre-Merdeka insurgency were heroes. The communist insurgents, 1948 through 1960, were carried out while the country was still under British rule. The communists were actually fighting the British.

Utusan Malaysia, the UMNO-owned daily reported that Mohd Sabu made the remarks at a political ceramah in Tasek Gelugor, Penang, on August 21. The Malay daily also stated that Mohd Sabu had said the country’s first prime minister Tunku Abdul Rahman Putra Al-Haj and UMNO's first president Datuk Onn Jaafar were not freedom fighters.

.

Bola diletak depan pintu gol, dia rembat masuk. Merdeka! Merdeka! Merdeka!

Photo: http://malaysia-today.net/mtcolumns/no-holds-barred/43376-britain-is-distorting-history

SARA: Another hillarious news, pakcik. A professor from National Professors’ Council MPN said in a statement recently that Malaysia had never been colonised by the British prior to Merdeka and had only been a protectorate of the British Empire. Professor Datuk Dr Zainal Kling said although the British had then governed Malaya, Malaya had remained sovereign under the Malay rulers. Malaya later joined together with Singapore, Sabah, and Sarawak to form Malaysia in 1963. As explained by Bond, Singapore was subsequently expelled in 1965.

DEVIL: That statement come from the mouth of a professor?!

SARA: Yep!

DEVIL: He said Malaysia had never been colonised?!

SARA: You heard him.

BOND: If that was the case then why the hell are we celebrating Independence Day today?

(Laughter)

SARA: Beats me, Bond. If we go by the professor's logic then our Independence Day was merely a circus show orchestrated by UMNO leaders so as to highlight, or make evident, their so-called heroic importance in making country Malaysia. The professor is saying the struggle for independence was never there to begin with, not needed, as Malaysia was already a sovereign state from the start. UMNO was not there to finish off the job started by PKMM. This whole thing about Merdeka that we read in our history books were merely made ups, made believe.

BOND: Or afterthoughts.

SARA: PAS leader had said MPN’s statement brought about serious 'general' and 'academic' implications, and that the onus was on UMNO to respond given its position as the lynchpin of the ruling Barisan Nasional coalition.

UMNO has to state its stand regarding the remarks made by the council of professors. Do they support it or are against it? UMNO has not said anything regarding whether Malaysia was colonised. The people await the response... it will be irresponsible for them to remain silent. We dare UMNO to state its stand. If it is true this country was never colonised, we should cancel Hari Pahlawan this September 16. And cancel everything else related with independence. Cancel UMNO, too!

(Laughter)

.
NAJIB: Saya beri amaran.

JULAIHI: Pakcik setuju sangat-sangat.

Hari Berkabung
http://knightadventure.blogspot.com/2011/09/sept-16-part-v.html

SARA: Guys, I have one other news for you. Everyone is invited to join the dual Merdeka-Malaysia Day celebrations at Dataran Merdeka on September 16. Deputy Information Communication and Culture Minister Datuk Maglin Dennis D’Cruz rejected yesterday allegations that this year’s observation of both events has been lukewarm, Bernama Online reported. D’Cruz urged business and residences to display the national flag in this patriotic season. He said it was apt for Merdeka Day to be celebrated on the same day as Malaysia Day because it was the Hari Raya holidays on August 31.

DEVIL: See! See what I mean?! The Merdeka Day August 31st which the Malaysians celebrate every year had to be postponed to make way for a Hari Raya occasion which coincidentally fell in the same week with Merdeka. See what I mean now? Everything in this country has be Melayu first and foremost it can even cancel out Malaya's Independence Day celebration. Oh wow!

Pakai pakaian hitam, kita berkabung.

Sebelum mengakhiri perbincangan Dewan Selamba kita hari ini, pakcik meminta saudara-saudari sekalian menggunakan masa lapang pada 16 September untuk menghayati perjuangan The First Rebels di kalangan masyarakat Sarawak suatu ketika dahulu. Perjuangan mereka sehingga kini masih menuntut satu 'finishing'.

1857, angkatan Cina Kuching pernah bangkit menentang penjajah Inggeris, sehingga terkepung kubu Brooke.

The Great Kayan Expedition. Tahun 1863, masyarakat KayanKenyah di Batang Rajang bangkit menentang kerajaan Charles Brooke. Brooke beserta 30,000 tentera upahan masuk perahu perang, belayar ke hulu Rejang. Keputusan peperangan -- seri. Rundingan damai.

The Four Horsemen tidak terima penubuhan Malaysia. Mahu lawan lagi? Silakan.

(In the news)

SIPITANG: Tuan Haji Amdee Sidik, Deputy President of SAPP, highlighted that there should be no compromise where history of the nation and specifically the history of Sabah is concerned. History of Sabah especially in the formation of Malaysia has captured the headlines in recent weeks. Tuan Haji Amdee is of the opinion historical records in our archives are the best source of understanding our past better.

"The director of the state - Datuk Tiga Belas archive is the appropriate authority to determine history without embellishing it. Creative history is often used to serve a greater purpose such as forging unity amongst the people of one nation. However, over-stretching creative history may deny others of their place in history and took their sensitivities for granted.

"This may lead discrimination and disenfranchisement of the identity, tradition, and culture and undermine the system of values in the segments of societies. As the result, instead of forging unity, it creates cleavages amongst the people."

KOTA KINABALU: Two Sabahans today filed a summons at the High Court here against the federal and state governments over their rights as stipulated in the Malaysia Agreement. They are seeking eight declarations from the court regarding "Borneonisation" in the state, as assured and recommended in the Report of the Inter-Governmental Committee (IGC) in 1962 which precipitated the formation of Malaysia Federation a year later.

The summons by Mohd Nazib Maidan Dally, 35, and Bernard Fung Fon Chen, 70, was filed by counsel Peter Marajin through his legal firm in Kota Kinabalu. The federal and state governments are the first and second defendants in the suit respectively.

Met after filing the summons at the court registry, Marajin said the matter will be heard before justice David Wong Dak Wah on Oct 10, 2011.

Earlier in December last year Tawau MP Chua Boon Bui said Borneonisation should not be read as an anti-federal government feelings. "We are not asking more than what is stipulated in the 18-point agreement. We are also not asking the Malayans to kowtow to us.

"We are only asking what is righftfully ours," said Chua alluding primarily to the long-overdue Borneonisation of public services in Sabah.
